EV Chargers enabling seamless eMobility in the Eastern Cape.

The global automotive landscape is undergoing a profound shift, driven by massive technological advancements. In response, the Eastern Cape Province is positioning itself as a gateway to Africa, with the Automotive Industry Development Centre Eastern Cape (AIDC-EC) playing a pivotal role.

As part of its commitment to fostering a strategic location and business-friendly environment, the AIDC-EC has launched a multi-phased initiative to support the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and promote beneficiation in the region. To date, four EV Charging stations have been rolled out in the province, located in Dan's Country Lodge in Libode - OR Tambo District, Virgin Active on Esplanade, East London - Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, Tsitsikhaya Lodge - Tsitsikamma in Sarah Baartman District and Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality respectively.

This milestone underscores the province's vision of innovation for sustainable development, aligning with the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) strategic objectives to improve local economic participation, reduce emissions, and promote green economy initiatives.

Building on this momentum, two additional EV Chargers have gone live in the global charging network in Port Alfred and Komani (Queenstown), marking the 5th and 6th installations in its multi-phased roll-out initiative.

Join the growing community of EV enthusiasts in the Eastern Cape and experience the freedom of sustainable travel. The AIDC-EC is committed to enabling seamless eMobility in the Eastern Cape.
