
Automotive Industry Development Centre Eastern Cape
The AIDC-EC, a wholly owned ECDC subsidiary, was incorporated in 2003. Its enabling legislation is the Companies Act 71 of 2008 and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) 1999, as amended. The entity is a government business entity or a schedule 3D subsidiary of the ECDC.
The AIDC-EC as an economic development entity has established its strategic objectives enshrined in SAAM 2035, an industry standard which ensures key priority outputs that align with the National Development Plan 2030 of the country.

The Automotive Aftermarket Support Programme
The Automotive Aftermarket Support Programme is a cornerstone of the AIDC-EC’s commitment to the overall empowerment of the automotive aftermarket SMMEs in the Eastern Cape. The department focuses on the ecosystem of businesses and services that support vehicles after they have been sold by the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The targeted audience are historically disadvantaged SMMEs.

Component Suppliers & Investor Support
The Component Suppliers and Investor Support department is committed to bolstering the Eastern Cape automotive sector through a comprehensive range of services. It focuses on three main areas: Consulting, Component Supplier Support, and Industry Investment Support. All efforts are geared towards fostering a competitive and resilient automotive ecosystem in the Eastern Cape, thereby driving long-term success for all stakeholders involved.

Future Skills & Sustainable Energy
In response to the evolving landscape of the automotive sector, characterized by a shift towards sustainability through the introduction of Electric Vehicles (EVs), the AIDC-EC is dedicated to cultivating a fresh array of competencies. Our objective is to fortify provincial preparedness and uphold international competitiveness.
