AIDC EC & GIZ Ghana Open Day

The AIDC EC is pleased to announce the collaboration between their Wellness Management Programme and the GIZ Ghana Employee Wellbeing Programme for 2016. This inter-country collaboration will allow for the AIDC EC to make use of shared experiences.

The AIDC EC, with over 9 years of related experience in over 18 suppliers for Ford SEP, GM and VWSA and reaching just over 9000 employees, is well-suit‍‍‍ed to bring their experience to bear in the performance of this partnership. The Ghana Employee Wellbeing Programme (EWP) emerged from HIV-based Workplace Programmes (WPP) based on the growing demand of the private sector to address the double-burden of disease on institutional and community levels. The now expanded Employee Wellbeing Programme project is building on its experience as it is currently implemented in Ghana with three private partner companies, UT ABL and Japan Motors, which now includes a company in South Africa.

The expansion from HIV-WPP to EWP has been successful in instrumenting a higher enrolment rate of staff and their family, a higher acceptance rate of staff and family as well as a higher satisfaction rate of the community. The approach that the EWP takes is a preventative rather than a systematic treatment of the situation.

The business case for EWP is as simple as: investing in your employees’ health and safety pays off. As the EWP stands now, it is designed to maximise the company’s benefit for their cost. The programme includes a Cost-Benefit Tool, Electronic Health Management System (eHMIS), EWP training curriculum and toolbox and the expanded EWP, which involves staff, their families and the community, targeting a shift in mind set around health and wellness.
